As Christmas approaches, there are so many things to look forward to! Family time, pantomimes, giving and receiving presents, carol singing, good food...  It is a time for enjoyment, when we wish the best for our families and for everyone around us!

It is also a time to think of those who are less fortunate and a time of giving. In this season of goodwill, if you or your employer are considering donating to charity, then there is one right on your doorstep. Think of The Log Cabin Charity and help us to continue supporting Ealing children with additional needs and disabilities and their families.

Children and young people who come to the Log Cabin Charity have a range of different needs, they may be physically disabled or they may have sensory impairments. Some have autism, some have emotional, behavioural or learning difficulties and some have complex health and medical needs. Many have profound, challenging and multiple disabilities and require 1:1 care and support. All of them want to play, just as all children do.

But it can be difficult for parents and carers to find places where these children can go to play. Many playgrounds and activities are not able to cater for their needs. Consequently these children are often socially isolated. They do not get many opportunities to be around other children outside of school to form friendships and their parents are often isolated too. The constant care they are required to give to their child means they have no time for themselves or for simple tasks around the home. Often they do not have enough time for siblings and siblings become carers at a young age.

The Log Cabin offers a place where these children can socialise with others, play and take part in activities whilst their individual needs are catered for, and where specialised facilities and equipment are available. Parents and carers, and the whole family, benefit from the respite, whilst knowing their child is being well cared for. Staff have the expertise, experience, and above all the patience to make children feel at ease and enable all children to join in, make choices and discover their sense of self-worth and independence.

Please help us to continue to support these children by donating today and sharing our message. Click here to donate or consider setting up a monthly direct debit. If you do so via Localgiving from 11 December, Localgiving will match 6 months out of 12 months worth of your donations making your donation go even further. See here for more detail.

Thank you for your continued support!
